Understanding CBM in Freight Shipping
CBM (cubic meter) is the standard measurement used in international freight to calculate shipping costs. It represents the volume of your cargo in cubic meters.
How to Calculate CBM
CBM is calculated by multiplying the length, width, and height of your shipment (in meters).
Formula: Length(m) × Width(m) × Height(m) = CBM
For measurements in centimeters, divide each dimension by 100 before multiplying.
Why CBM Matters
Freight carriers charge based on either actual weight or volumetric weight (whichever is greater).
Volumetric Weight Formula (Air): (L×W×H in cm) ÷ 6000
Volumetric Weight Formula (Sea): (L×W×H in cm) ÷ 1000000 × 1000
